Emotions

Some of us have learned how dangerous emotions can be, if you let them control you.
Emotions could put you to shame but even more disturbing, get you in serious trouble...
You could trip over yourself.
You could put up a jealous fit.
You could throw angry and really hurtful words you would never have thought you could utter, even to the one(s) you love, and as we know, you can never take them back.
You could pour out what you think are love declarations "in the heat of the moment" only to find out  moments later that those feelings weren't valid... Oops!
You could make promises you'd regret 30 minutes after you declare them.
You could threaten to act a certain way and fail and worsen the situation you were trying to fix in the first place.
But all of these don't seem so bad right, because you think you can apologize and life goes on as normal. Well, maybe in some cases ( though rare I'd guess).
You see, it starts with the little things and if you don't get a grip of yourself early enough, if you don't realize how important it is to control emotions, fragile, fleeting feelings that they are,
you could lose yourself. You could get yourself killed or kill someone, yes, it can get that far.
And sometimes in a moment of deep regret, commit suicide too. This isn't anything new.
Let's do better, we should know better than to blame bad behavior on emotions; " I was angry", " I was upset", " I was sad" etc. We all feel these things and we have seen that if left unchecked, they could get really bad. Anger management issues should be confronted as soon as noticed, all emotional issues should be stated as what they are and handled accordingly.
Learn to control yourself, life can switch up on you in less than a minute.
Think through the things you say and do.
Be responsible.

Love and light, always 💙.

Life in shades of grey...

Hi everyone. How is your end of the world? There has been so much negativity on the news lately and I've just been thinking how much more we all need to be accepting of people and our differences.
In the past, I've wondered if it's okay that I like the things I like and care about people the way I do and don't care about certain things the way people do.
I've wondered if not agreeing with the things the world, society, church, school, family and friends have set as rules makes me unfit to be "one of them" but then I have never really been able to find any group worthy enough to make me squeeze so much to make a perfect fit in their "sacred worlds". Don't get me wrong, I love peace beyond anything in this world and I am a team player, never the one to go out of my way to rebel but I'm also not one to accept everything I'm served. I work and walk with my heart, my faith and my mind and I ask a lot of questions, it could get annoying. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I basically do what works for me, what I'm convinced within to be right (of course sometimes I do wrong), as I try to let others do what works for them.

Happy International Women's Day!

Hi everyone. Happy International Women's Day to my fellow AMAZONS!
It's our day, yipee!
To be honest, this is the first year I've been this excited about our day. I've always been a woman's woman but I never had that special excitement for our day but this year is different. Could it be that I'm embracing my (almost) old age? It's still almost please, for the next 10 years at least 😋.

Let's Talk About Love

Sooo, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, let’s talk about love. I mean the pure kind, the kind that we should have for one another, not the epileptic kind which seems to have polluted the world today.
I always say, love is hard work! Don’t get me wrong, love is sweet, amazing and the best gift ever.

However, when love is tested, it feels like a huge rock placed on your chest, or is that only me? No? Anyone? I know I have partners in this feeling. Now, love is not the enemy here, as people like to bitterly and I must admit poetically write about. Love in itself is amazing but the instruments of love; you and I, are humans bound to make mistakes in life and sometimes these mistakes cause pain to our loved ones. Many times, we really do not mean to but alas, it happens.

I’m not about to go through the painful details of what we do with love or shall I say the consequences of love. I’m only here as a reality check for us all, to remind us of the ups and downs of human relationships and to reassure us that Love is eternal and Love has got us and I’ll summarize them with a few of my favorite love quotes below:

My God & Me

Hi guys! How are y'all doing?
I mentioned a few new changes to the blog. Yes, the look and now, a new very important section; My God and me.

I’ve been meaning to add this section for quite a while now but for some unknown reason(s), I’ve delayed for way too long. I’m here now and glad to be alive to do this so hey, welcome to my very imperfect journey as a Christian.

This section will cover my walk with God; I’ll be sharing things I learn, testimonies of how God has saved me and keeps saving me and others, hope in this dark world we live in, struggles, etc.  I hope you stick around and most importantly, I hope somewhere, somehow, the words here would save someone.

Always and forever, love and light to you and yours.

Loving an Insecure Person

Hey guys! How’s it going at your end? Trust that you’re doing the best you can. Hang in there, it’ll all be great in the end.
I had planned a different topic to share with you today but this just popped into my head for some reason, and I really don’t know what brought it up. As I like to go with my heart sometimes, let’s talk about this then, shall we?

Happy 2017 folks!

Happy 2017 my darlings! May you be truly blessed with happiness that lasts all year round and beyond! How are your vibes for the year, feeling anything yet? Many as always have been super excited that the year 2016 is over, I mean so many people complained about how tough the year was. I agree it was tough but I must confess it was better (not financially) than my 2015, so that's progress I'm thankful for. As those are hopeful, some are just waiting to see what the year brings and others are simply going on with life as always, you know the "last year and this year is just a day apart so it's just another week, just another year, no big deal" group of people. I'm curious, where do you belong? For me, I'm a mix of all three I guess but it is a big deal, seeing every new day IS a big deal I'll daily be grateful for.

Breathe and Be Happy

Hey guys, how have you all been? I honestly hope good. It's been tough lately for the majority but I'm glad to see that we're all still pushing on. Really, that's all we could ask for.
Anyway, I didn't really plan on a "real" post per say. I came here to just ramble ( like that's not all I do usually), because I've missed you, So Much.
I just realized recently how far the year has gone, seriously this year was FAST! I think I'm happy it was actually. I have had a series of unfortunate incidents happen to me this year and I've got to admit, they shook me. Looking at me, you may never know but honestly they did, then again, I'm a believer in God so I always end up okay, always. These things happen and you start to focus on all the negatives, your smile starts to fade and make occasional appearances. You forget the little things and the big things that you have going on, because we are so spoilt. Yes you know people have been through worse but that's them, this is you and you shouldn't have certain things happening to you, because you are? You! Well, hate to break it to you but you WILL continue to have a fair share of fortunate and unfortunate incidents coming your way - facts of life. Pray all you want, this is truth. Some things just have to happen and many times we come out humbled and with a better perspective generally. Sometimes, we are too consumed in our world that the we forget there are people out there who need us, people we can help without having to do so much. When we go through the fire and survive it, for the wise ones, we open our eyes and our hearts and we are kinder and more loving and more forgiving and tolerating of people. You come out a better You.

"Pray for Me"

Hey everyone! How have you all been? Can you believe it's September already. Wow! Time really does fly, doesn't it? I hope you all have achieved some of your set goals for the year and if you haven't, don't stress it too much. Just do what you can with the time left. I am way behind schedule on my goals and this doesn't even sound like news anymore but I am so glad that things are beginning to pick up again. There are still a lot of things to process and clarify but at least we are making progress and that makes me happy. So to our topic - Pray for Me, follow me...

The Little Things Count

Hello world! How have you been? I've been away for too long and I won't even bother trying to give any excuse. Lord knows I've missed you and you're always on my mind and today I was determined to come here to tell you that and to share something, anything with you. Earlier at church today, this topic came to mind and I decided to share with my darlings; You.

USE THE SMART SYSTEM THIS YEAR

Picture from headguruteacher.com

Hey guys! How are you all doing? Is it just me or is this January in particular one hell of a long month??? I mean, it feels like we've been here forever. I shouldn't be complaining though, I had many days to get myself in order. Please bear with me, I'm a little cough syrup drowsy but I will try to be as clear and simple as possible, this cough is one serious gangsta though, sigh.
About two or three weeks ago, I had an anxiety attack at the office. I just froze there feeling like I had wasted all my chances/days. I felt confused and lost and felt I needed an organizer again, I needed a time table to achieve all I had set out for the year or at least make progress. I needed to make progress on everything I had listed out. In my frozen state, I wasn't thinking straight so I had to reach out to a friend. He called me almost immediately and helped me through. He made me realize we were barely in the middle of the month and I was on the right track with my plans and he agreed that I needed a schedule to work with but I was most glad that he said all I had listed out to him were SMART goals and he believed that I could achieve them. That made me glad and I thought to share my process with you, and hopefully we can help one another whichever way possible.

Going The Extra Mile

Hi guys, how are you all doing? I hope great. I'm already feeling a little overwhelmed like I didn't know my break was going to be over so soon. Mind me not, I'll adjust soon. Anyway, so today, I want us to talk about "Going The Extra Mile" in whatever we do. We know that saying, " Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well" right? Well, it seems many people don't agree with this saying. I know, when we were younger, we could angrily carry out a task clumsily just to stubbornly and rudely pass a message - don't act all righteous, you must have done it too, but as adults why would you waste your time to do something and do it with zero dedication? It drives me insane. I'll give you a recent dangerous example.

Hey Guys - Happy Holidays!

Hey guys. How have you all been? Last time I was here, I was warning you all about not getting caught up in the rat race and then guess what? I DID! I so did and when I had the chance to breathe, things just got all messed up but no, I haven't abandoned you nor this space. In fact, I have sorted 65% of the challenge. You have no idea what you do for me. For the umpteenth time, I AM SORRY FOR NOT BEING HERE. I got mails from my silent not so many viewers asking what was up and all. I tell you, it means a lot to me that you even checked so THANK YOU. I actually planned on dropping this post tomorrow but then I thought enough with the procrastination as my dear friend gave me a much needed kick in the butt yesterday with a post she dropped. So here I am, just doing what I do...

What's The Plan?

withanopenheart.org

Hey guys, how are you doing? It feels like it's been forever. I hope you all have been good. I've been sane and insane at different points which brings me to our talk today. You see, I don't know if this applies to everyone but I guess majority of us (workers/ business people and the sort) will feel me on this. Many of us work 9hours a day 5-6 days a week every month of every year, for some of us it gets worse with the MAD TRAFFIC and we barely have time to look up at what's really going on in our lives. You are so consumed with work you have forgotten what the plan was. Take a deep breath and just RELAX for a moment.

Mango, Avocado and Beetroot Smoothie

Hey guys, it's been forever, I know and I'm sorry. I hope everyone is well and praying/thanking God for Nigeria. I really miss you, so today to compensate for my many days of absence, I'll be sharing a simple yet mouthwatering recipe from our favorite food blog. Just yesterday, I was scolding myself for getting lazy on the fruit consumption department. For some reason, everything just seems so hard to ingest the moment I get home at night. I was served watermelon, (probably my favorite fruit) last week and I couldn't take more than two pieces; that annoyed me BIG time. Anyway, so yesterday I was thinking, I have to do something about this.I need to be healthy you know, and because it's been a while I used the smoothie maker at home, I totally forgot about its existence. Then I started to rethink an easier way to get my nutrients up and bingo! Smoothies, hell yeah! So dear loved ones, if you are in the same boat as me or one similar, you may need to get your smoothie maker out again or make a budget for smoothies and get some from a hygienic spot around you. The beauty about doing it yourself is you can get really creative with the fruits and flavors. Anyway, you should try this one, I don't really like Beetroot but when it was all blended up this way, I couldn't get enough. Enjoy!

Love and Marriage

Hey guys, how are we doing? My days have been hot and cold, almost fell ill or maybe did a little but I'm good now. Anyway, it's been a while I just talked and I've been wanting to for a while now, but you know how these things are now, right? I'm here now, though :D. I ended last year marrying a cousin out and started this year marrying a friend out ( it sounds like I'm the one collecting the bride price, right? lol). Yeah, so the whole relationship and marriage topic started flowing around again for some time,  you  know the usual questions from every corner, those with the right to ask and those who have no business asking, "When are we coming for your own oh?", "| So, when are we meeting him now?" and the likes. Well, I think all of that inspired me to talk my talk today, so come with me and flow through my mind.

Merry Christmas/ Happy New Year

Cake made by me

Hello darlings! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. How have you all been? Hope your holiday has been amazing. Mine has been awesome, very occupied with the right memories. I've been away for a while but had to drop by to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 2014 will be coming to an end in a few hours and I just had to drop some love and say how grateful I am for sharing the year with me. It was amazing and you made it even more worthwhile.

This may be coming a little late but I would just go ahead and say it anyway. 2014 is almost over, did you reflect on how it went by? It went by SO fast, honestly. What did you do right and what didn't work out as planned? What mistakes were made, what decisions taken? It's wise to do a self reflection/ evaluation on your life often, and the end of a year is usually a great time to do so (anytime is fine, by the way). People make new year resolutions and break them on day 3. I don't really do that or maybe not exactly. I just know what I want to achieve for the year and yes, most times I lose track too. We can change that though. How about we write down our achievement list for the next year and if you have time you can build on it all through the year by breaking each achievement into strategic plans to help bring them to light. Once it's broken down into smaller to-do lists, with time frames, it makes it easier to work on. Let's try that, shall we? Alright, I have to go get ready for the crossover service at church. Lots of love and see you next year!

It's Thanksgiving Again! What Are You Thankful For?

http://theavtimes.com/

Happy thanksgiving everyone! How are you doing? It's thanksgiving season again and I believe you have many reasons to be thankful. I know I do and that's why I'm here today; to share some of the reasons why I'm thankful. It's very usual to hear people say they don't have reasons to be thankful and I must say that this is very sad. First, because it is untrue and also because your negative attitude or your ingratitude hinders you from receiving more blessings. If you can't see and appreciate what you have right now, what use would it be to give you more? Always be grateful people, no matter what you're going through the fact remains that there are people who have it better and those who have it worse than you do. I'm not here to preach today, I'm here to count some of my blessings with you, so please, follow me :).

Moral Development - Get it at Home or in School?

Hello world, how is everything going? I feel very uncomfortable because the weather here is terribly hot, worse; power supply has been as good as absent in the past few weeks. It is so frustrating. I would have thought that with the elections coming soon, there'll be an effort, even just for show, to improve the electricity/power distribution in the country. Unfortunately, the reverse is the case. I'm so upset, I'm going off point. Forgive me, please. I want to talk about something very different. Today, while in a cab, I was listening to the radio and there was a mention about schools being the place to infuse good morals in children and then a co-passenger objected saying that parents expecting the schools to do their work is just nonsense. Well, what do you think?

Parenting - The "Little Things" You Do That Ruin Your Child

picture from www.dailymail.co.uk

Hi everyone. How is work, love and life treating you, I hope we're happy with at least one of these. I want to talk about parenting and I hope I can stick to "the little things" here - whatever they are. Some of us are parents already, some will be, pretty soon, and some, hope to be one day. The thing is, many people have no idea what it takes to be parents, yes, even some that have 20 kids already. It's not just about giving birth so you could bear the title mummy/daddy, having little ones to send on errands to the nearby store or simply to have people to take care of you when you're old and gray. No, it goes way beyond that. Having children should not be for your selfish reasons alone (yes, alone because let's face it, it should be for our joy too). The society we have today is one way or another as a result of the grooming the people received by the parents. One day, your daughter might be president, your son might be an ambassador, what values will you instill in them? The foundation of everything in life goes a long way in determining the strength and success of that entity. Our children's foundations should be built by us and I tell you it is not an easy task at all, there are influences everywhere but at the end of the day they come back home to you and they look up to you the most. What do you tell them is wrong or right? What do you trash out and tell them never to pick up again? Do you tell them why? Let's look at some things parents do that affect their kids and hopefully, let's start to amend our ways; it's never too late to try.
