What's The Plan?

withanopenheart.org

Hey guys, how are you doing? It feels like it's been forever. I hope you all have been good. I've been sane and insane at different points which brings me to our talk today. You see, I don't know if this applies to everyone but I guess majority of us (workers/ business people and the sort) will feel me on this. Many of us work 9hours a day 5-6 days a week every month of every year, for some of us it gets worse with the MAD TRAFFIC and we barely have time to look up at what's really going on in our lives. You are so consumed with work you have forgotten what the plan was. Take a deep breath and just RELAX for a moment.

Money Weirdness

picture from http://naijas.com/

Hey guys, how was your weekend? I hope you were all able to rest well. Let's start the week with a little money talk, shall we? First, let's go back to those good old days when you had no care in the world, or at least, no serious care. Do you remember? Do you remember when you thought 5 bucks could buy everything you wanted in the world? My youngest nephew was recently given a cash gift for coming out top of his class. First, he was a little confused, given that he was expecting a toy or even candy and then it seemed like realization dawned on him that he finally had money (he's 4); something he was told too often wasn't available when he made silly requests. His dad came in a few minutes later and he ran to him showing him his cash gift "daddy daddy uncle gave me money, now I can buy anything I want". Awwh, how naive right? Sometimes, that's just bliss. The innocence of a child is adorably pure and peaceful.

Does Your Job Define You?

picture from withanopenheart.org

Hi guys, today I want to ask you two main questions, ok, three actually; 1. How are you darlings? Hope you’re great. 2. Does your job define you? 3. Is it a good or a bad thing if it does?

Are you one of those people who find yourself needing to always mention that you are a doctor, lawyer, teacher, farmer, banker… within two seconds of a conversation? Do you feel it is necessary in validating who you are to the person and or to yourself? Let’s take it in different perspectives; say, you do absolutely love your job; it’s all you've ever dreamed of becoming and can’t think of doing or succeeding in anything else. You are at peace with this job and the only change in your career would be advancement or relocation, not an actual change in job per say. In this case, I can honestly expect that, who you are would definitely be linked with your job, because truthfully, it is part of who you are and not just what you do-even though you should have a life outside your work.  Now, second scene; say you are a “successful” banker/doctor or whatever, you are great at your job and get good pay and nonmaterial incentives as well but you absolutely hate your job for reasons best known to you. Would you still spurt out your job within 2 seconds of a discussion? If you do, would it be because you don’t find anything else interesting about yourself or you think that’s the information the person would like to know or you feel that gives you “points” in the person’s mental judgment book?

Emotions

Some of us have learned how dangerous emotions can be, if you let them control you. Emotions could put you to shame but even more dis...
