Did You Know About Diastasis Recti?

Hey guys, how are we all doing? I hope your energy is still very high and you're channeling it into the right things, people and places.
Today, we'll be talking about a health issue I recently learned about. I'm still wowed at the fact that I'm just learning about it. I mean, this is something I feel I should have known especially as it affects pregnant women a lot. Pregnant women/pregnancy is "my thing". At some point in my life, I wanted to be a gynecologist, that didn't work out, thankfully, but still, I like to know all I can about it and I keep learning from the blessed ones around me. To think that no doctor has mentioned this to any of my close mothers, (and please note that I have a lot of babies so many mothers, new and old and relatively old) is quite disappointing. Let's not dwell on that too much, let's go straight into the education for the day, shall we? Let's learn about DIASTASIS RECTI.

The Miracle Sour Sop Fruit

Hey guys, how are you all doing? It's been a minute. I've been meaning to educate us on the health segment for a while now. This year, I really want to try to make more healthy decisions everyday. The thing with me and I'm certain many others is not really the starting but the keeping at it. It's so hard to stay motivated but we have to keep trying and make it a habit and then a lifestyle. I'll say so far, I've made a little progress with my eating habit, it's not perfect yet but much better, okay maybe not much but better. Exercises have dropped to just one routine every night, far from enough. I shall stop the self scolding now and head on to today's topic. Today, I want to share the awesome benefits of the deliciously juicy fruit; Sour Sop.

Mango, Avocado and Beetroot Smoothie

Hey guys, it's been forever, I know and I'm sorry. I hope everyone is well and praying/thanking God for Nigeria. I really miss you, so today to compensate for my many days of absence, I'll be sharing a simple yet mouthwatering recipe from our favorite food blog. Just yesterday, I was scolding myself for getting lazy on the fruit consumption department. For some reason, everything just seems so hard to ingest the moment I get home at night. I was served watermelon, (probably my favorite fruit) last week and I couldn't take more than two pieces; that annoyed me BIG time. Anyway, so yesterday I was thinking, I have to do something about this.I need to be healthy you know, and because it's been a while I used the smoothie maker at home, I totally forgot about its existence. Then I started to rethink an easier way to get my nutrients up and bingo! Smoothies, hell yeah! So dear loved ones, if you are in the same boat as me or one similar, you may need to get your smoothie maker out again or make a budget for smoothies and get some from a hygienic spot around you. The beauty about doing it yourself is you can get really creative with the fruits and flavors. Anyway, you should try this one, I don't really like Beetroot but when it was all blended up this way, I couldn't get enough. Enjoy!

Beetroot and Carrot Juice

Hey guys, how is your weekend going? Mine has been.... can't find the right adjective but I'm good. It's been a while I shared any health and food information with you and so I figured I could do a double on one post and if time permits, I'll give another for the food section today. Yeah, so this post is actually from our food blog but I'd like to categorize it under our health section simply because I think food is delicious and I don't think this recipe is *straight face*, okay kidding, well not really but more because this recipe's health benefits are amazing! To think that we have all these natural herbs around us and still go spend huge amounts of money in the hospitals every now and then is kind of sad. Oh well, our doctors have to survive too, right? Okay, before I start over ranting as always, I present to you, Beetroot and Carrot Juice.

The Hour Glass Figure

http://taliamarkham.blogspot.com/2012

Hey guys, how are you all doing? I've been up and about trying to make the world a better place just like superman. :D, Okay, maybe not like that but I've been up and about though, trying to make my world and a few others' a better place; we have to start small "na", it's a ripple effect. Guess what? I've been enjoying a generous amount of power supply from PHCN (that's still their name right?) for a week  now, I don't know if they're back for good but I'm enjoying this and pray it stays this way. Okay, to today's topic - for a while now, ladies have been increasingly obsessed with having the perfect hour glass figure. I'm afraid that this is as a result of subtle hypnosis by the media. The thing is, I have always connected a woman's sexiness with the "figure 8" shape. By always, I mean, since I knew how to think (since I was in the womb). I don't know why or how I got that idea, I don't know if I was made to believe that or I saw it and liked it on my own, (I have many elder sisters so I may have been hypnotized too). I do know though that till date I still find that sexy, in the right proportions of course. What I don't know is why recently, ladies have gotten so obsessed with the whole shape thing that they are ready to go to extreme measures to get it. I like it so I won't say it is rubbish though sometimes I feel it is not worth the risk people take, I will say that I hope you're doing it for YOU and it gives YOU joy. I will also say, that you should choose the healthy, probably more difficult and less risky way out - diet and exercises. Yes, there are exercises to help you get that shape and I'll be sharing some of them with you today.

A Delicious Coconut Water Fruit Blend

Hi guys, how are you all doing? I'm same as last time, upset with the power situation. It's been six days today that we've not had a blink of light. We've been running on gen for so long, you can just imagine the cost and even more uncomfortable; the limitations (since I don't buy the fuel) - no heater, no air conditioner, etc. sigh. We'll survive. Anyway, if you're in a better part of the world, then you could try this recipe I'm about to share and to make it even better, put it in the refrigerator for an even cooler experience ;). If you're in my shoes; suffering the no electricity life, you could still enjoy the freshness of this with alternative power supply. From our food blog, I present to you a delicious coconut water fruit blend recipe.

Pineapple - The Power fruit

picture from http://www.seriouseats.com

Hello guys, how are you doing? Have you been eating right lately? Maybe some of you started and then stopped, and maybe some others are still moving strong. I hope you belong to the latter group. I urge you to eat right, it's for your good. Starting early will help you avoid a lot of sicknesses that come with age and if you're among the older group, you should know you need to eat right because your body slows down on fighting many sicknesses, hence you need the boost from natural healthy foods. I'd like to share with you the health benefits of the power fruit; Pineapple.

Easy Exercises to Tone Your Arms

Hi everyone. Today, we will be going through some work out routines to help firm up the arms. You know you need them when you wave at your friend and seconds after you're done waving, your triceps are still jiggling away. This is most common to women due to fats and hormonal changes that occur with age. It is so common that it has been given nicknames such as "Christian mother", and for the northern Nigerians "Matan zumunta arms". It could get very embarrassing but not to worry, you can start some routines to help you firm up those excited muscles and give you the freedom and confidence to rock your sleeveless wears again.

Get Spicy with Garlic

picture from http://eofdreams.com/

Hey guys, how are you doing? I apologize for my recent silence here, I've been away for a while. I traveled and have been all over the place (sort of), since my return. A lot of things have come up but hopefully I'll sort them out soon.

Let's talk about a delicious healthy herb today; garlic. The first thing that comes to mind for most people when the word garlic is heard or read is the distinctive smell. I once told you that my mum considers any meal without garlic and ginger as bland, well, guess what, she can manage living without the ginger but she must have her garlic. I personally love garlic in food albeit in small quantity, I know how much it ruins our breath but sometimes we just choose to live life and live healthy right and honestly if I'm going to be eating in my home, I can't avoid it. When I was much younger, my mum used to mash garlic and mix it up with honey as treatment for respiratory discomfort. She graduated from that to chewing raw garlic and today, garlic is added to practically all our meals. My mum is in her early sixties and I must say, she's pretty strong and healthy. I have to attribute her good health to her food choices (she's a lover of fruits, vegetables and nice herbs) and of course God's Grace. Many people know that garlic has many health benefits because they have heard it too many times, but what are these benefits? Is garlic overrated or should everyone hop on the train and start consuming garlic daily? Let's find out, shall we?

Get Rid of Belly Fat

picture from www.wehearit.com

Greetings all. How are your ends of the world? At the moment, I'm super happy as my little princess turns two today. She has been with us for just two years and it feels like forever (in a good way). She is a steady joy bringer. Whatever mood I'm in, she just makes my heart smile. She makes you forget about your troubles and lets you revel in the joy of the moment. She is a smart ass, that one. My heart is filled with so much love right now and I can't thank God enough for blessing us with Hyirirhyel F Tarfa. I pray that she grows to show His light to the world and brighten it as she brightens our lives daily. I love you madly princess - stay true.
Okay, so back to today's topic - a very common health/physical problem among both men and women today is the issue of big bellies. Did I hear someone say it is not an issue? Don't be in denial, honey. That thing is so not sexy, and more importantly, not healthy. Did you know that doctors check your waist line to determine your risk of heart disease? Topic for another day. Today, I'll be sharing some workout routines and effective recipes to help trim belly fat.

The Delicious Watermelon

picture from http://bonnieplants.com/growing/growing-watermelons/

Hello world, how are we doing? Breaking grounds, I hope. I feel weird at the moment but I'm sure I'll be good in no time. I have been trying to put this up but my network has been pretty annoying. However, my mood lit up when I found out network was giving issues somewhere in the United States too, :), I'm evil like that ;). Kidding, okay, just a little. Today, I wanted to put up the health benefits of a food/fruit then voila, my sister got watermelon earlier, so while I ate some, I decided that I'd write about that . I actually love watermelon, it is one of my favorite fruits if not the actual favorite one. Sometimes, we are unlucky and get those light pink ones that aren't sweet but when we do get those red juicy sweet ones and then refrigerate it for a while before taking it, it's like heaven.

Specifically, I want to share with us the deal about cardio exercises; what they are, why they are important and some exercises that fit into this category. Many will connect it with the heart from the name and think it is for people with heart issues or history of heart issues, I'm sorry to burst your bubble if you fall in that category. Cardiovascular exercises are very important for us all. I'll tell you why.

The Magic of Ginger

picture from www.nlj.gov

Hello everyone, how are you doing? Today, in our health section, we'll be talking about the wonderful herb; Ginger. Ginger is used as spice in food, special ingredient in snacks and drinks as well as medicine. Ginger has a distinctive flavor that is loved by many. My mum can't do without ginger, once you cook without ginger and garlic, to her that food is bland! I on the other hand, do not like the ginger flavor, however, I tolerate it for its many health benefits. Lets go over some of them, shall we?

Let's Work Out

picture from www.trends4youth.com

Hi guys! What's popping? Yes, I'm sure you guessed that the next thing after eating right would be working out, right? I can imagine my siblings cracking up at the thought of me writing this. You see, I DO NOT like to work out, but what I can't stand is the thought of adding flesh in the wrong places. So for me, it's a matter of choosing the lesser evil, of which in this case, is working out! That's right! I would humbly offer my body to work out sessions to get rid of flab I do not want. It's sort of tricky for me because I'm seen to be naturally skinny. Let me tell you a bit about that, follow me.
