Get Rid of Belly Fat

Greetings all. How are your ends of the world? At the moment, I'm super happy as my little princess turns two today. She has been with us for just two years and it feels like forever (in a good way). She is a steady joy bringer. Whatever mood I'm in, she just makes my heart smile. She makes you forget about your troubles and lets you revel in the joy of the moment. She is a smart ass, that one. My heart is filled with so much love right now and I can't thank God enough for blessing us with Hyirirhyel F Tarfa. I pray that she grows to show His light to the world and brighten it as she brightens our lives daily. I love you madly princess - stay true. 
Okay, so back to today's topic - a very common health/physical problem among both men and women today is the issue of big bellies. Did I hear someone say it is not an issue? Don't be in denial, honey. That thing is so not sexy, and more importantly, not healthy. Did you know that doctors check your waist line to determine your risk of heart disease? Topic for another day. Today, I'll be sharing some workout routines and effective recipes to help trim belly fat.



First of all, I want to believe we know what cause our bellies to begin to grow out of proportion. Am I right? Okay, let's go over a few of them; frequent and excess consumption of beer, eating late at night (guilty), stress, eating more fats than you burn and for some women, hormonal changes. The first step to avoiding or controlling fat gain around your belly region is by avoiding these triggers. Avoiding belly fat is way easier than controlling or reducing it so if you still have those flat abs, please keep working to ensure it remains that way, except for pregnancy of course, but you can regain the flat belly after delivery if you work hard. 

Workout Routines

Some effective workout routines that help to burn fat around the belly region include:

  • Floor jack splits:

  • The Crossover: Stand with your legs shoulder length apart, and then bring your left elbow and right knee together, then switch with your right elbow and left knee. Repeat the process in fast rhythms. This helps to burn fats at the lower abdominal region.
  • Swimming: Swimming is a great exercise for the entire body. The crawl strokes and butterfly strokes particularly help to work on abs.
  • Dance:  Yes, you read right. Dance moves that involve the waist, stomach and hip region help to trim belly fats. Belly rolls and twists are good for this.
  • Yoga: Bridge pose, Boat pose (navasana), belly crunch and half boat, leg climb, plank pose,

Note: Always start your workout sessions with stretches to get your body ready for the hard work. Let your doctor in on your routine especially if you have a disease or history of one.

Recipes:
These are basically detoxification recipes which help you get rid of unwanted toxins within your body, some of which pose as fats and surround your belly region.

  • Water: Drinking water regularly is a good and effective way to get rid of toxins from the body. 
  • Hot water, ginger, lemon and cinnamon: Add two teaspoons of grated ginger, cinnamon and lemon juice into one cup of water and take first thing every morning. This aids digestion and rid you off toxins. If you do this for a couple of days, you will start to see the difference in your belly.
  • Water, ginger, cucumber and lemon: Fill a jug with water and add grated ginger (about 3 average sized roots), two sliced cucumber and quarter cup of lemon and keep refrigerated. Take this as often as you can daily and wash off all the unwanted materials within your system.

Note: These recipes DO NOT firm up your belly. They help detoxify your system and leave you with a trimmer belly which makes it easier for you to firm up using the exercises mentioned above and other ab exercises. Also, the belly can store layers of fats, so carrying out some exercises will only firm up the outer muscles, making it even more difficult to burn the inner muscles. If you notice your abs getting firmer while still very big, you're probably doing the wrong exercises for your belly fat level. The detoxification recipes and belly dances can help you shed enough fats to get to the inner muscles.

Firming up a flat belly makes it harder for fats to gather around that region again; so don't get comfortable with just a flat belly, make them firm enough to resist fats easily getting there again.


The belly is the fastest region to gain fat and probably the most difficult region to lose fats. It is therefore wise and advisable to maintain a flat one while it is still down. Working on a protruding belly takes time, dedication and hard work and remember, stressing over it will only make things worse. There you have it guys.
